Alternative Energy Sources

The need for alternative energy sources is at the forefront of many people’s minds.  With recent event, from war to catastrophic disasters, it is becoming apparent that new sources of energy will have to be utilized soon.  Before the current energy crisis, people only considered the effect on the environment.  However, now that our current energy choices are hitting them in the pocketbook, they are ready to find alternative energy sources.

Alternative Energy Sources to Think About

Alternative energy goes beyond obvious examples like hybrid vehicles vs. the run-of-the-mill internal combustion engine.  There is also the power that we use at home to consider.  Most of the power plants in the United States burn coal to generate electricity and more of these coal burners are in the works.  Ignorance about the dangers nuclear power pose has stonewalled their construction.  This has played a role in keeping antiquated coal plants as a major source for the nation's power.  Thankfully, more and more people are using solar power in their homes and wind power generators are becoming more viable as new, light-weight materials are developed.  These are among some of the alternative energy sources, like ethanol fuel, that we will hopefully turn to in the near future.
